THE BRAKE’S GUIDE · CARPET CLEANING
How long does carpet take to dry after cleaning?
Brake’s low-moisture carpet cleaning typically dries in about one hour. Carpet type, airflow, humidity, and the amount of cleaning required can change that time, so confirm the expected return-to-use time for your space.
Why drying time varies
A typical dry time is a planning guide rather than a promise for every room. A heavily soiled traffic lane may need different attention from a lightly used office. Carpet construction and the conditions inside the building also matter. Describe your carpet and the deadline for using the space when you request an estimate.
Before the cleaning visit
Tell us when people arrive, which rooms must stay accessible, and whether any area has limited ventilation. For a business, decide how staff will move between cleaned and uncleaned zones. For a church, include rehearsals and midweek activities as well as the main service. For a home, plan a route for family members and pets.
While the carpet is drying
Follow the instructions provided for your specific visit. Keep people off damp carpet until it is dry, and be careful at transitions onto hard floors. Suitable ventilation helps the drying process; ask what makes sense for your building rather than assume an open window will suit every weather condition.
If carpet stays damp longer than expected
Contact the cleaning provider and describe the area, elapsed time, and conditions. Avoid putting a room back into normal use solely because a typical drying window has passed. If the issue follows a leak or flooding, explain that separately: water damage is a different situation from routine carpet cleaning.
