THE BRAKE’S GUIDE · CARPET CLEANING

Rent a carpet cleaner or hire a professional?

Renting a carpet cleaner can make sense for a small do-it-yourself job if you have time to collect, operate and return the machine. Hiring Brake’s gives you an owner-led cleaning plan for your carpet or hard floors, with a free estimate and scheduling around your home, business or church.

What should you compare before renting?

A carpet cleaning machine rental may have a lower upfront charge, but compare the complete job: the rental period, cleaning solution, accessories, transport, setup and return, plus your time. A professional estimate depends on the areas, flooring, condition, access and requested work. Ask what is included in both options; do not assume either will always cost less.

Carpet cleaner rental vs. professional carpet cleaning

If you rent a carpet cleaner, check its instructions and your carpet manufacturer’s care guidance. You will need to prepare the rooms, operate the equipment, manage moisture and allow for drying. Brake’s assesses the carpet and discusses the method and access window; our low-moisture carpet cleaning typically dries in about one hour, depending on conditions and the work required. Steam cleaning and additional treatments can take different amounts of time.

Tile and grout cleaning machine rental

A tile floor cleaner or floor scrubber rental requires a machine, brush and cleaning solution suitable for the tile and grout. The wrong product or excessive abrasion can affect a surface or finish, so consult the manufacturer first. With professional tile and grout cleaning, describe the material, grout condition, traffic lanes and edges so the cleaning scope fits the floor. Brake’s does not offer grout sealing.

Wood floor cleaning machine rental

Hardwood and its finish can be sensitive to moisture and unsuitable cleaning products. Before using rented equipment, follow the flooring and finish manufacturer’s instructions and avoid a machine or product that is not approved for that surface. For professional hardwood floor cleaning, tell us about the wood, finish and condition; cleaning does not include sanding or refinishing.

Concrete and commercial floor machine rentals

For a concrete floor scrubber rental or larger commercial floor-cleaning machine rental, consider floor coatings, obstructions, power and water access, equipment handling and when the building must reopen. Brake’s can discuss concrete and hard-floor cleaning and, where suitable, stripping, waxing, buffing and burnishing. Agree on the surface and scope before work begins.

When might hiring Brake’s be a better fit?

Hiring a cleaner can save your staff, volunteers or household the time spent collecting, operating and returning rental equipment. It is worth requesting an estimate when several rooms or different floor materials are involved, a church has an upcoming event, or a business needs work scheduled around operations. Gordon Brake personally oversees the work; tell us about your schedule and priorities.
