THE BRAKE’S GUIDE · JANITORIAL SERVICES
Plan church cleaning around services and events
A church-cleaning schedule should work backward from the next service or event and allow time for cleaned areas to be ready for use. Coordinate recurring janitorial tasks with occasional carpet and hard-floor cleaning so the whole building is considered.
Start with the full church calendar
Include worship, rehearsals, weddings, funerals, classes, fellowship meals, and other building use. Share the areas involved and the next occupancy time, not just the event start time. A room may be needed earlier for setup, volunteers, or sound checks. Name one person who can communicate changes to the cleaning provider.
Map the spaces and their priorities
List the sanctuary, entrances, classrooms, fellowship areas, restrooms, and offices included in the discussion. Note delicate furnishings and any spaces that require specific handling. Decide which tasks remain with volunteers or staff and which are part of the professional cleaning scope.
Schedule carpet and hard-floor care separately
Routine janitorial visits do not automatically include professional carpet or tile-and-grout cleaning. Ask how each service fits into the calendar. Brake’s low-moisture carpet cleaning typically dries in about one hour, with timing affected by conditions and the cleaning needed; confirm the practical window for your church before the visit.
Agree on access and a final check
Discuss entry arrangements, the building contact, rooms that must remain available, and any furniture-moving responsibilities. After the work, check the agreed areas and raise questions before the next gathering where possible. A shared list makes it easier to identify a missed task or a request outside the original scope.
Request a church-cleaning assessment
